POSITION IDENTIFICATION

Position title: Chef de Projet Numérique, projet ALFA Grade : I.E. (Graduate)

Projet ERC ALFA (CoG agreement n° : 723085)


POSITION DESCRIPTION

I – MISSIONS

  • The successful candidate will work within the research project (ERC CoG agreement n° 723085; alfa.hypotheses.org) in direct interaction with an international team of 12 The ALFA project (2017-2022) seeks to unravel the history of Alfonsine astronomy which flourished in Europe from the end of 13th to the mid-16th century. The project includes digital humanities in 3 facets: 1. Conception of an information system adapted to astronomical sources (manuscripts, tables, instruments, texts); 2. Development of web interfaces to allow different types of publics (researchers, teachers, wider audiences) to access to the project results and data; 3. Management of the internal and external communication of the project. The “Chef de projet numérique” shall be able to handle all the steps of the project: conception, modelisation, development of databases and websites, maintenance.
  • The ALFA project is hosted by the CNRS in the history of astronomy team of the SYRTE (UMR 8630) Located at the Paris Observatory, SYRTE counts 95 staff members including 57 permanent with 13 ITA CNRS. The laboratory conducts internationally renowned research in the domains of time metrology, fundamental physics and history of astronomy. The laboratory has an important IT team of 8 persons working mainly on projects.

IV – POSITION IN THE ORGANISATION

  • Hierarchical position : Inside the History of astronomy team (4 permanents, 10 associated researchers) under the direction of the Principal Investigator du projet ALFA.
  • Relations internes : History of astronomy team of the SYRTE inside the ALFA project (PI et 3 PhD et 3 post-doc in the local team), IT team of the SYRTE.
  • Relations externes : International researcher team of the ALFA project (12 researchers), TAMAS project IT (tamas.hypotheses.org), IT of institution related to ALFA

V – CONDITIONS D’EXERCICE DES MISSIONS / ENVIRONNEMENT DU POSTE

Lieu de travail :Observatoire de Paris – SYRTE

Working time : 38h30 weekly – One year contract renewable a maximum of 4 times
Working hours : 9h00- 17h22
Beginning of contract : Septembre, 1 2017 at the soonest

Salary : Depending on the experience with respect to the I.E. frame of the CNRS.
